First day of term

Lucas starts Year 2 at school

Lucas started Year 2 today.

It seems like yesterday that he started Reception, and now here he is, in Year 2.  He was slightly sad about going back to school after such an awesome summer and said, "But it won't be as awesome as being at home with you, Mum!"  He has a point, I am pretty damn awesome.

When I picked him up he was all smiles.  I asked him if he had a good day, and he did this:

Lucas clowning around

I assume that this means, "YES!"

Now that he's home, I've looked through his book bag and there are--surprise, surprise--forms for me to fill out already, some new reading books which look pretty exciting and a new homework book.  I think the increased homework may prove to be a shock to our systems!!

I'm really proud of our Wee Man and I hope he enjoys Year 2 as much as he did Year 1 and Reception!!

PS I'm taking part in Blog Your Socks Off September, as devised by Jess at Lovely Jubbly.  I'll be posting daily, every day in September on whatever topic takes my fancy.  (Blogtember's list of daily topics was too hardcore for me.)

  2. Lucas is so handsome! He has the most gorgeous skin tone I've ever seen! And how lovely that he said that he'd rather be at home with you? :) He sounds like a complete love!

    1. Awww, thank-you, Rosie! Some days I look at him and can't believe we created something so beautiful and perfect.

He's lovely to have about--and has developed a lovely new habit of clearing all the dishes away after meals--but after six weeks of answering perpetual questions and searching for patience in the bottom of a coffee cup, I'm quite happy to let his teacher take the strain for a little while! He's still lush, though xx

    1. Oh, wow! Thanks so much for nominating me Annatha! I'm very excited!

We always take a bunch of photos on the first day of the year; I figured it would be fun to make a collage of them when Lucas hits Y6 and hang it on the stairs or something! (And I have many embarrassing photos to trot out for his 18th or wedding speeches in the future!!)
