Taking Stock

Sunshine and green fields at Tyntesfield
I'm enjoying some peace and quiet just now, so it seems like a good time to take stock again...

Making another square for my latest project, the Ron Weasley blanket from the Harry Potter films.  I've knitted 42/80 and I'm thinking that this is going to be a massive blanket!
Cooking a raspberry lemonade cake later on.  Nothing right now, though, it's much too hot.
Drinking some Cherry Coca-Cola.
Reading "Against All Grain" and trying to psych myself up for going paleo again...
Wanting a Welsh dresser for the dining room.
Looking at recipes.
Playing Doctor Who Legacy on the iPad.  The Silence are totally kicking my ass at the moment!!
Deciding to start exercising on Monday.  I am also deciding to spend Tuesday lying down!!
Wishing I could eat whatever I wanted and somehow be slim!
Enjoying some peace and quiet.
Waiting for Dave, his Dad and Lucas to finish building Lucas's new bed. Can't wait to see it!
Liking life.  It has its ups and downs, but overall it's pretty damn awesome!!
Wondering how to quilt a blanket.
Loving my little family, as always.
Pondering how to paint my plates at the ceramics workshop I'm going to soon.
Considering which brand of shower to buy.  There are way too many choices.
Watching the first episode of the Fargo TV series.  I loved the film so much, but it's taken me forever to get around to watching the series. Thank goodness for 4oD!
Hoping that it doesn't get too hot this week.
Marvelling at how blue the sky is.
Needing to frame some pictures.
Smelling the strawberries that Lucas had at lunchtime.
Wearing my oldest, comfiest clothes to slouch on the sofa.
Following some new bloggers, folks I met at Blogtacular.
Noticing how untidy the house is. Whoops!
Knowing that life is good.
Thinking about friends who are going through hard times.
Feeling content.
Admiring some of the amazing bloggers who spoke at Blogtacular.
Sorting through my books.  Still trying to thin the herd and make more room!

  1. I can't wait to see how the Ron Weasley Blanket turns out, it's going to be amazing! I have still never tried out Cherry coke, I think the vanilla one put me off trying any other flavours that were normal. I hope you're all getting to enjoy the sun! x

I am also wondering about quilting - I've always lusted over them so maybe I should give it a go! If you find and good beginner tutorials, let me know!! x Grace

  3. Lovely post, I like taking stick, I should do it more often. Thanks for the prompt. Tynesfield one of my most fave places.

  4. Mmm - raspberry lemonade cake sounds delicious - I hope it cooled down enough in your part of the world for a little baking!!

  5. It didn't cool down much, but I baked anyway :) It tasted fantastic and I'd definitely do it again but probably with more lemon zest in the cake batter. The locusts hoovered it up within minutes http://www.domesticsluttery.com/2014/05/pink-lemonade-cake.html

  7. I'm going to attempt to farm it out to a quilting lady that I know in exchange for cake. I don't want to have to borrow or buy a sewing machine just for this--not convinced I can stitch a straight line!--but one day it would be lovely to make my own quilt...

  8. I quite liked the vanilla! It was like a coke float. But then, I'm a massive fan of cream soda so I'm totally okay with vanilla flavoured weirdness in drinks.

We've spent loads of time outside this weekend, so today I will be apologising to the sofa for neglecting it so much...

Here's me thinking I could naively sew the whole thing by hand...may have to shelve that idea then! Or find a class - I'm a Bath dweller and I know the Makery there usually does fab classes (if a little pricey!). I'll let you know if I come up with anything as you're a Bristol lass are you not?? x

  10. I am indeed in Bristol. If you hunt about you might find a quilting group near you that would be happy to show you the ropes. You can definitely hand-quilt...check out Amish quilts! I know a few people on Instagram who do their own pieced patchwork which they then quilt. I think it would take me years to do even a small quilt by hand!

Anyway, I've arranged with my friend for her to quilt the blanket in exchange for a bunch of tiny crochet flowers to adorn one of her projects. The bartering system is alive and well!

  12. How's Fargo? I've resisted because of the awesomeness of the film...
And new bed day will be glorious!
